The Brief

Their approach was just right for Sills & Betteridge

In 2019 Sills & Betteridge expressed that they’d like to develop a new website as they felt that their existing one was clunky, slow and didn’t reflect them in the right light. So, we sat down with them and drew up a wish list of what they wanted. In an ideal world Sills & Betteridge wanted a website that would:

They are absolute professionals in every way. Each member of the team has been utterly committed to first class service and support. They know my technical understanding is limited, (and I know it must test their patience!), but they explain everything in a digestible way, always coming up with ideas, answers, solutions and results to the often quite challenging (unrealistic?!) briefs I present them with.

In June 2020, DBS launched a completely custom new website for Sills & Betteridge. It’s now professional, easy for clients to enquire about services, informative, quick to load, simple to manage, and facilitating the continued growth of the legal firm which has seen them open more branches. 

Since we started working with Sills & Betteridge in 2017, we’ve helped them increase their visitors by 156% and their enquiries by 319% year on year while Google organic traffic specifically has seen a 360% increase in visitors and 506% increase in enquiries. 

How we did it

Web Design

We knew that the new website needed to be fast because Google was realigning its algorithm to prioritize mobile-first indexing. The previous website took a long time to load, especially on mobile devices, so optimizing the infrastructure for the fastest possible load times was imperative.

Another key focus for the new website was ensuring it was fully mobile responsive. The site now automatically resizes to fit any screen size, providing a seamless user experience on all devices.

To empower our client to maintain and update their site, we created an intuitive content management system (CMS) and provided comprehensive training. This ensures their team can easily make ongoing changes themselves.

Additionally, we integrated online payment capabilities via WorldPay, enhancing the overall website experience and making transactions easier for Sills & Betteridge and their clients.

SEO

Careful management of the SEO transfer from their previous website was crucial for a successful launch. We implemented search engine-friendly redirects to ensure no authority was lost from the old site. A 301-redirect plan was put in place, ensuring that old pages redirected to relevant new ones. We also collaborated with the marketing team at Sills & Betteridge to review and optimize the metadata and content, ensuring they were in the best shape for the new website.

By taking the time to establish a strong foundation, the website's rankings improved rapidly. In June 2019, a year before the new website launch, the site held 51 top 3 spots on Google. By July 2020, just one month after the launch, it had 76 top 3 spots. By January 2021, seven months post-launch, the website had secured 126 top 3 spots on Google.
