There was some good news for small, rural businesses this week, as the telecoms regulator OFCOM ordered BT to cut its rates to 12% below inflation from August 2011 until March 2014.
Commenting on the news, DBS Director David Clarke said: “This is great news for small businesses in the countryside and more rural parts of the UK, which up until now have had a bit of a raw deal when it comes to the internet. For any company, getting high up in search engines is vital if their business is to grow, but small rural companies haven’t been able to afford professional internet marketing services because of the cost of their broadband. Hopefully this will even out the playing field a little”.
The cost change only affects companies with broadband of up to 8Mbps, which are the companies that need it most.
