TikTok has announced that they are expanding their relationship with Shopify merchant profiles, meaning that those that have a TikTok For Business account will be able to add a shopping tab to their TikTok profiles, providing a new way to create sales within the platform.
Shopify explains that “Shopify merchants with a TikTok For Business account will soon be able to add a shopping tab to their TikTok profiles and sync their product catalogues to create a mini storefront that links directly to their online store for checkout”
Whilst consumers will not be able to purchase things directly within the app, it is a major step forward in the app’s e-commerce push. The storefront space will be similar to Instagram’s in-app Shops option which also uses Shopify as does Pinterest.
This is great news for Shopify merchants as it creates yet another direct way to promote their products within a social media app.
Businesses have previously struggled to monetise their presence on TikTok with a lot of businesses focussing on influencer marketing instead. So, this new development is a great opportunity for selling.
The new Shopify store tab will be available shortly for Shopify merchants with a TikTok For Business Account in both the UK and the US.
